Teachers

At Octopus Garden our highest priority is to meet the needs of our students. Inspired by a vigorous form of hatha yoga called Ashtanga Vinyasa, we emphasize alignment, form and attention to detail combined with the transforming effects of flowing vinyasa.

Our view is that yoga is a practice for life. In this spirit we offer our classes as a forum for individual evolution and exploration.

Scott Davis

scott

Scott has been teaching yoga as an evolving form for over a decade. Over the years he has studied with teachers such as Chuck Miller & Maty Ezraty, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Richard Freeman, Gregory Nye, and TKV Desikachar. In addition, he had the privilege of mentoring with co-owners Diane Bruni and Ron Reid of Downward Dog Yoga Centre in Toronto, while teaching there for over 8 years. Scott teaches a style based on the transformative and energizing effects of flowing Ashtanga vinyasa, combined with the mindfulness of integrated alignment. As a doctor of Oriental Medicine, Scott approaches yoga as a holistic system, seeing the body as a micro-cosmic manifestation of nature. He believes that a well rounded yoga practice has the power to heal the whole individual by purifying the body while revealing powerful insights about the nature of the mind itself. In addition to regular drop-in classes, intensives, and specialized workshops, he teaches several local and international retreats a year.

Pat Harada Linfoot

pat

Pat sees the practice of yoga as an opportunity for physical, psychological and spiritual inquiry. A background in psychology, as well as Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga, Buddhism and mindfulness meditation have been her primary influences. She began her study of yoga 15 years ago and has been teaching classes, workshops, and retreats for the last 10 years. She is especially grateful to teachers Ron Reid, Hart Lazer, Georg Feuerstein, Joan Halifax, and Judith Lasater.
